Simplicity 1824 pattern review

My daughter asked me to sew this little backpack for her.

It worked with a few alterations.

Alterations:

Pattern Instruction #3 (basting the front fold): Before basting, I added a stitch to each side to give it a more tailored look.

Pattern Instruction #14: The child’s pattern calls for you to tie the ends but I added 4 D-Rings, size 3.8cm (1.5″), which was similar to the adult version (D-rings below).

I didn’t add an interior pocket.  And of course, putting in the lining was a fuss but in the end, my little girl was very happy with her new backpack.  This pattern has lots of fabric versatility.

Time to complete:  Approximately 2.5 hours.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Notions: 9″ zipper.

Happy Sewing!
