The short history of Bubble Gum:1848. John B. Curtis made and sold the first commercial chewing gum called “State of Maine Pure Spruce Gum”.
1888. The Thomas Adams Gum Company introduced the very first vending machines to the United States. They were installed on the subway platforms in New York City and sold Tutti-Fruiti gum.
1928. Walter E. Diemer invented Dubble Bubble, priced at 1 cent a piece.
2013. Dubble Bubble is still selling strong across the United States today. Here’s a photo I snapped at a local mall:
