What is Torah?
Torah is the Hebrew transliterated word for law, instruction, direction, guidance.
“Blessed [are] the undefiled in the way, who walk in the Torah (law) of the LORD.” -Psalm 119:1
But I thought the Law was done away with when Jesus came?
I did too but soon found that God established those laws for our preservation and protection – for our GOOD. It’s encouraging to know that Yeshua followed the Torah also.
Yahweh wrote the outline of how we ought to live in the Torah – from how we ought to farm, how we ought to dress, what we should eat, how we ought to treat others, to days we should remember, sexuality, giving, etc. He desires to be involved but He doesn’t control us – though He has supreme control.
Here’s a list of great websites I’d recommend for more information on Torah pursuant living.
1. 119 Ministries.
A great website if you’re new to Torah. Lots of informative and well-produced videos and easy to follow teachings.
2. Psalm 11918.org.
The depth of knowledge in this website is tremendous. Interesting graphs. Great articles. They also have an interactive tool that lists the Mitzvots (Commandments) sorted by commandment, verse order or traditional order. It’s the only website I know that offers this.
3. Now Is The Time Ministries.
I had the privilege of listening to Steve Berkson live. He’s a powerful speaker with a raspy voice, East Coast accent and no-nonsense style. He cuts through to the heart of the matter on many issues. My favorite teaching of his (though there are many) is Unity and Division in the Body.
If you’re using an XBox 360 player with an XBox Live account to listen to Audio internet messages, you may run into an incompatibility problem. YouTube videos are fine but I found an internet site that will allow you to hear Messianic speakers like Garry Capps, Steve Berkson, Rico Cortez, Monte Judah, etc on an XBox machine. They’re called Way To Zion.org . They have both Audio and Video files on their site.
